The Silver Stars Lunch and Learn was hosted by South Georgia Medical Center on May 16 at the Stone Creek Golf Club where Dr. Brian Dawson educated members on acting fast when it comes to strokes. In Dr. Dawson's presentation, "Empowering Lowndes County to Act FAST--Stroke Education", he pointed out the signs and symptoms of stroke. Dr. Dawson also explained the importance of calling 911 immediately as there is only a 3 hour window of time to administer the clot busting drug.
After Dr. Dawson provided members with important stroke information and signs of detecting a stroke when it happens, Bob Burk of Stone Creek Golf Club gave a brief presentation on the basic golf swing and Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber President, Myrna Ballard, wrapped up the luncheon. A good time of learning and fellowship was had by all!
