Lunch and Learn Hosted by South Georgia Medical Center
and SMITH Northview Hospital, a campus of SGMC

The Triple Crown Hometowns Silver Stars Lunch and Learn was hosted by South Georgia Medical Center and SMITH Northview Hospital, a campus of SGMC on Feb. 23 at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Conference Center.

Over 55 retirees, TCH Investors and Silver Star Members gathered together for this informative lunch and learn. Dana Massingill, Director of Planning & Marketing of SGMC, welcomed the audience and introduced the speaker of the hour, Brian Dawson, a neurologist at SGMC and serves as the medical director of SGMC’s new Code Stroke Program. Dr. Dawson presented a great power point on the signs and symptoms of stroke. Dr. Dawson provided what to be aware of and look for. He explained the importance of calling 911 immediately as there is only a 3 hour window of time to administer the clot busting drug. At the conclusion of his presentation we witnessed firsthand the emergency of a stroke patient, Dr. Dawson had to leave immediately due to a stroke patient that needed him at the hospital asap.

After we heard about the importance of staying healthy and active, Jane Shelton of South Georgia Travel and Jack Brinson of Collette Vacations presented the travel news of “Irish Splendor”. This is a wonderful trip planned for October of 2012 to Ireland. Triple Crown is honored to promote this to our Chamber and retirees it is a wonderful 8 day trip planned with exciting things to do from visiting a local pub to staying the night in the Ashford Castle. Now is the time to sign up and save, please call Jane Shelton at South Georgia Travel 229-244-2324 for complete details. The dates of travel are from October 29 thru November 5.
